Experimental Composite Defensive Blade

Willow-Arylate-Willow-Glassfibre-Willow

I tried this out for a couple of 2-3 hour sessions and found it performed well, but had a little too much flex for my liking (I like my blade how I like my drinks: Stiff). I'm going to include it in the SALE post if some one wants to snag it on discount.

Hardbat Happiness: Part 1

This is my first offering targeted specifically at hardbat. It's simple, economic, and effective.
What we have here is 3 plies of basswood and a simple cypress and poplar veneer handle.
I'll have another one up later in the week but with poplar outter plies.
If anyone is interested in something like this, I'll be offering these for cheap ($20.00-$25.00).
Slap some Dr. Evil on this and you're set.

Uppuluri's Frying Pan Chop Stick *2.0*

Uppuluri requested this XXL Chop Stick from way over in India. This is the new Chop Stick ply composition, the original had way too much flex. This new composition has eliminated much of the previous flex, but it may change again.

Pause...

Sorry for the long gap in news/production. The explanation would be a series of things I don't care to describe, but to put it shortly - I got sick and a bunch of other things happened at once, so I sort of dropped out of the TT/Internet circle for a while. Well, the good news is that I'm well and back at the table (and table saw), so I've resumed some production, though my time is a bit limited, so things will be coming in small quantities. Good hitting ya'll.

The Chop Stick

This one is interesting...
I'm not much for defense and chopping but I like to play around now and then.
I am particularly bad at chopping and tend to chop too hard thus hitting over the other side of the table. To facilitate some chop training I thought I'd make the slowest possible blade. And I did.
It's willow-poplar-cork-poplar-willow, and I'm fairly confidant it's the slowest blade of all time. It has a nice handle with decorative veneers of bloodwood and poplar sandwiched between maple. I dressed it up with TSP Curl P-2 (ox) on one side and Globe 999 (1.8) on the other. I hit with it a little last night and it got to the point that I could return just about any mid-grade loop with a nice, floating, slow moving, backspin ball.

Two Heavy Hitting Beat Sticks

Here are a couple of real clubs. I haven't had a new beat stick in a while so I thought I'd make myself up a few.

The first is composed of my favorite ply combo walnut-cypress-balsa-cypress-walnut. It came out to be around 85-87 grams and with a thickness of 8.7mm. The handle is a lovely 5-ply combination of wenge and purpleheart.

This next blade got my blood pumping just for it's raw power. It's got an extra thick core and came out to be exactly 10mm thick. It weighs in at a dainty 100-105 grams and is made up of zebrano-cypress-balsa-cypress-zebrano. It plays pretty well too.

Bill's super custom All-rounder

This is a very custom blade for Bill from Illinois. It's made up of Cypress-Cypress-Balsa-Cypress-Cypress, with a half wenge/purpleheart and half cork handle. It's 6.7mm thick and 79 grams. Bill was exceptionally helpful and descriptive with what he wanted and I hope this fits the bill (or at least comes close).

Stan's Frying Pan Combo

This blade is for Stan from North Carolina. It's a heck of a big blade with head dimensions of 170mm x 163mm. It's about 8.65 mm thick and weighs in at 60-62 grams. The composition is Limba-Carbon-Balsa-Poplar-Poplar. I sent it out today so I hope it makes safe passage.

Timofey's Oversized Combo

This is a blade for my training partner Tim. It's an oversized shape with a combo composition of walnut-cypress-balsa-poplar-limba. It's 8.7mm thick and weighs in at a comfortable 85 grams. Tim plays with a lot of loops, drives, and smashes on his forehand and a lot of chops, pushes, and spinny loops of his backhand, so the fast walnut/cypress side and the slow limba/poplar side compliment his game quite well.

Custom 7 ply for Arnold

This is a 7-ply for Arnold, a player at my local club. This is Arnold's 4th blade from me, and I'm thinking number 5 might be on the house (EDIT: 07/17 - He requested #5, and it was free).

jatoba-palo maria-cypress-balsa-cypress-palo maria-jatoba
6.7mm thick, 85 grams, ST cork handle

This blade is pretty fast and stiff, but still light. Arnold has very interesting style based around heavy spin variations and offensive strokes with long pips. He's been doing some pretty tricky stuff with this blade and curl p-3.

Epic Journey

These 3 Blades are taking a little trip away from St. Augustine to go around the world and be tested as well as reviewed by members of the mytabletennis.net forum. You can read up on the action by checking out this link.

The Blades are
